Vanilla’s product suite was originally built for internal use by AdvicePeriod to create efficiency in explaining the value derived from estate planning and to identify opportunities to add value for clients that would be subject to the estate tax. It quickly became clear that the application and need was much broader than originally contemplated. Today’s estate planning tools—for advisors, lawyers, and consumers alike—are significantly lacking. Moreover, most advisors spend little time on even the basic components of estate planning.
