A SITA Case Study
Finnair, one of the world’s oldest airlines carrying about 10 million passengers annually between Europe and Asia, faced the challenge of competing on fast-changing Asia–Europe routes while relying on slow, manual fare‑management processes (email, phone and spreadsheets). To modernize pricing and respond faster to market shifts, Finnair selected SITA’s Airfare Insight (part of the Horizon® PSS) as its pricing management tool.
SITA implemented Airfare Insight to automate fare analysis, display all‑in fares, monitor hundreds of millions of fares and provide structured workflow and approvals; the project finished one month ahead of schedule. The result was faster speed‑to‑market, improved ability to populate Finnair’s PROS revenue‑management system with up‑to‑date fares and rules, more agile and competitive pricing, positive user feedback and the potential for industry‑typical revenue gains (estimated 3–10%).
