Swisscom’s centrally managed terminology database allows the company to speak with one voice

Swisscom, Switzerland’s leading telecommunications and IT company, faced fragmented, department-specific glossaries and needed a single source of corporate terminology to ensure consistent wording across products, channels and languages. To solve this, Swisscom partnered with Lionbridge to create and maintain the online Swisscom Glossary as the company-wide term repository.

Lionbridge manages and updates the Swisscom Glossary in German, French, Italian and English, consolidating submissions, aligning terms with Swisscom’s language rules and adding thousands of updates each year; the glossary now holds over 66,000 terms and has been maintained by Lionbridge for more than 20 years. This centralized, regularly refreshed terminology database has improved consistency across translations and communications, strengthened the Swisscom brand and provided a single reference used by writers, translators, reviewers and the web team.
