Swisscom, Switzerland’s leading telecommunications and IT company, faced the challenge of translating a 200‑page (≈85,000 words) annual report into multiple languages while the source text was still being written. The work involved highly technical financial and sustainability content, strict confidentiality and cybersecurity requirements, tight deadlines, and the need for consistent terminology and voice across German, French, Italian and English — a task Swisscom entrusted to Lionbridge for more than 20 years.

Lionbridge responded with a dedicated, multidisciplinary team (28 translators, two project managers, one account manager and a Language Excellence Manager), lead translators per target language, centralized terminology and translation memories, a flexible concurrent workflow, and Swiss‑based cybersecurity for secure file handling. Over a four‑month effort (~300 hours annually) Lionbridge delivered high‑quality, consistent translations for the 21st consecutive year, helped Swisscom comply with new sustainability reporting requirements, maintained brand voice across languages, and achieved a measured 43% reduction in translation costs for the 2022 report.
