Q-Pulse Offline Occurrence Reporting: capturing safety data at point of origin

Finnair, Finland’s flag carrier, faced a paper-based event reporting process that delayed and degraded safety data: crew often couldn’t record incidents at the point of origin, reports required manual entry into the Safety Management System (SMS), and the safety team spent excessive time administering forms instead of analysing trends.

Working with Ideagen, Finnair deployed Q-Pulse Offline Occurrence Reporting—validated electronic forms on aircraft laptops integrated via web service APIs to auto-upload to the SMS when online. The solution reduced administration, freed resources for safety analysis, improved data accuracy and trend detection, encouraged a stronger reporting culture, and created a scalable, closed-loop reporting process across the airline.
