Dell, a global computer technology company, faced a transformed credit-risk landscape after 9/11 that exposed gaps in its ability to view and manage global credit exposure and industry-specific risk. To fill those gaps, Dell partnered with Dun & Bradstreet for data and insights to aggregate company and government information and standardize risk assessment across regions.
Dell implemented D&B’s hosted eRAM as a global risk-management platform—now used by over 150 users (about 60 credit analysts)—to apply a consistent global credit-scoring standard, create custom scorecards, and monitor industries using SIC codes and D‑U‑N‑S identifiers. The result has been more proactive decision-making, stronger portfolio visibility, improved process efficiencies and reduced risk exposure, enabling Dell to pursue growth and capture market opportunities.
