Sage, Britain’s largest software group serving more than 20 countries with accounting and payroll products, faced declining sales of traditional on‑premise software as agile cloud competitors emerged. To reverse slowing growth and modernize its business, Sage set out to transition from a product‑centric model to a subscription-based model.

Sage implemented the Zuora platform to manage the end-to-end subscription order-to-cash lifecycle and deepen customer relationships. The move delivered strong results: recurring revenue grew 10.4% with subscription revenue up 32% year-over-year, subscription contracts rose from 450,000 to over 1 million, and recurring revenue now represents 70% of total revenue, improving growth and margins.
