Mediafin, the Belgian media group behind De Tijd and L’Echo, needed to shift from a print-centric model to digital-first content monetization as news consumption moved online. Its homegrown subscription system was built for print, creating technical debt and limiting its ability to support flexible digital subscriptions, renewals, and customer journeys. Zuora was brought in to help modernize the subscription engine.
With Zuora, Mediafin rebuilt subscriptions around digital processes, enabling customers to pause, resume, and change packages more easily while reducing complexity for internal teams. The result was a scalable digital-first publishing model: subscription sales and one-time sales grew to overtake advertising as Mediafin’s main revenue source, and the company says its growth has been driven in large part by these new processes from Zuora.
