Case Study: Alstom improves productivity and planning with Zuken's E3.series

A Zuken Case Study

Preview of the Alstom Case Study

Alstom improves productivity and planning by adopting a modular methodology for electrical design

Alstom, a global rail and transport manufacturer, needed to standardize and integrate electrical design across its newly expanded international organization. Facing increasingly complex vehicles—the Coradia Continental platform uses roughly seven kilometers of cable per train—Alstom adopted Zuken’s E3.series to replace slow, manual reuse of past projects and to bring consistency across its Power Systems and Transport divisions.

Zuken implemented E3.series with a rule-driven configurator, a 3D interface to CATIA V5 and the E3.formboard module, allowing automatic computation of follow-up parameters, autorouting and automatic calculation of production cable lengths. The Zuken solution sped up engineering, improved quality, reduced errors and streamlined integration with process planning, procurement and production, delivering measurable productivity gains and more efficient department structure.
