Case Study: British American Tobacco achieves secure, fast global Internet access and £1M cost savings with Zscaler

A Zscaler Case Study

Preview of the British American Tobacco Case Study

British American Tobacco - Customer Case Study

British American Tobacco (BAT), a global business operating in 180 countries with more than 55,000 employees, struggled with a fragmented internet security stack—40 different gateways and varied endpoint technologies—which created high maintenance overhead, inconsistent security across regions, and a locked-down browsing policy. Heavy VPN backhauling further increased latency and user dissatisfaction.

BAT piloted and then globally deployed Zscaler’s direct-to-cloud web security, routing users to the nearest node in a 100+ datacenter network so employees could go directly to the internet with granular, centrally enforced policies (including BYOD). The SaaS solution reduced latency and management complexity, improved user experience and security governance, and is projected to save about £1M in software replacement costs while covering roughly 32,000 users across 186 countries.
