Preview of the RiverCom 911 Case Study

RiverCom 911 replaces obsolete Land Mobile Radio (LMR) network with the MT Series to ensure reliable communications for public safety

RiverCom 911, the multi-jurisdictional PSAP serving Chelan and Douglas counties in Washington, faced a critical challenge when its decade-old LMR network was declared end-of-life in 2018, jeopardizing software updates, parts and support for the 23 law enforcement, fire and EMS agencies it serves. RiverCom chose Zetron and the MT-4E Series (with the Zetron Extended Service Plan) to replace the obsolete system and ensure long-term manufacturer-backed support.

Zetron deployed its MT series P25-based VHF simulcast solution across 14 sites, adding analog and digital capability, geo-diverse redundant controllers, remote monitoring and 24/7 technical support; the summer 2018 cutover was completed with only brief channel switches (~10 minutes) and no loss of coverage. The Zetron system now provides superior coverage and voice quality across RiverCom’s ~4,843 sq. mile service area (about 115,000 residents and 50,000 911 calls/year), is highly redundant, performing beyond expectations, and supports future expansion.
