A Zetron Case Study
North Dakota State Radio, the state-run public-safety answering point serving 24 of 53 counties and roughly 4,000 users across 87 agencies, faced rapid growth (CAD events rose nearly 14% year-over-year) and needed an adaptable, IP-based dispatch platform that could scale to support new towers and full backup-site control. After an RFP process they selected Zetron’s IP-based MAX Dispatch system to meet those requirements.
Zetron implemented MAX Dispatch with eight console positions at the main center, eight backup laptops, and deployment of 75 MAX Dispatch modules to 37 tower sites, migrating console-to-transmitter links from copper to IP over about four months; the system went live in June 2013. The Zetron solution delivered interoperable paging support, on-the-fly traffic rerouting and profile customization, immediate operational resilience from the backup site, and capacity to support ongoing expansion (planned tower growth from 37 to 46), enabling State Radio to handle increased call/dispatch volumes more flexibly and reliably.
