A Zetron Case Study
The Cook County Sheriff Police Department Emergency Communications/9-1-1 Center, which handles roughly 360,000 calls a year across more than 140 jurisdictions, needed to replace 20-year-old equipment, improve redundancy between its main and backup sites, and prepare for Next‑Generation (i3) capabilities like text, photo and video processing. To meet those challenges it selected Zetron’s MAX Call‑Taking system for an IP‑based, expandable call‑taking solution.
Zetron’s MAX Call‑Taking was installed as a 35‑position solution (two controllers, main and backup sites, supervisory and transportable positions) to provide multi‑level redundancy, streamlined operator consoles and expanded reporting. The implementation improved operations and readiness for consolidation, nearly tripled capacity, and raised the percentage of 9‑1‑1 calls answered within 10 seconds from 90.2% to 94.41%, while simplifying phone/PBX integration and delivering more comprehensive call tracking.
