Case Study: Swain County achieves seamless mutual 9-1-1 PSAP backup with Zetron MAX Dispatch & Call-Taking

A Zetron Case Study

Preview of the Swain County Case Study

2 MAX Solutions, 2 Agencies, Mutual Backup

Swain County, NC — working with neighboring Jackson County — needed to modernize its PSAP dispatch and 9-1-1 call-taking operations and comply with a new North Carolina law requiring PSAP backup plans. To meet those goals cost-effectively, the counties selected Zetron’s MAX Dispatch and MAX Call-Taking systems to provide updated, IP-based console and call-taking capabilities and to enable mutual backup between the centers.

Zetron installed identical, mirrored MAX Dispatch and MAX Call-Taking systems at both Swain and Jackson (four conventional positions and two laptop positions per site, 12 positions total), linked over fiber for seamless automatic failover. The Zetron solution delivered full, i3-capable redundancy, fulfilled the state backup mandate, has run reliably in production for over a year, and has become a model for other counties seeking mutual PSAP backup.
