How the Georgia Innocence Project uses automation to keep all its systems running

The Georgia Innocence Project, a nonprofit focused on helping wrongfully convicted people, needed to do more with limited time and resources while managing complex, paper-heavy legal and communications workflows. Using Zapier, the team streamlined tasks like call logging, case intake, records requests, hiring, and volunteer tracking so staff and volunteers could stay focused on their mission instead of manual admin work.

Zapier helped the Georgia Innocence Project automate key processes across Gmail, Google Forms, Google Sheets, Google Drive, Clio, and webhooks. The result was major scale and efficiency gains: 270 open records requests processed, 830 intern applicants reviewed, 5,360 phone calls tracked, 628 job applicants reviewed, 10,591.6 volunteer/intern hours logged, and 2,400 expense records processed over the reported periods.
