A Zapier Case Study

How Soylent Uses Zapier to Automatically Transcribe Phone Calls and Build a Database of Legal Advice

Soylent, the food-tech company, needed a better way to capture every detail from expensive legal conference calls during its Series A fundraising process. Using Zapier, together with tools like UberConference, Mailparser.io, Dropbox, Rev, Google Drive, and PostgreSQL, the team wanted to stop relying on handwritten notes and instead build a searchable record of legal advice.

Zapier automated the full workflow for Soylent: call recordings were pulled from email, saved to cloud storage, transcribed by Rev, and then archived in Google Drive and Dropbox for easy search and sharing. This gave Soylent a searchable database of verbatim legal guidance, reduced the need for follow-up calls, improved team access to key terms, and helped the company manage customer signups by sending email data into PostgreSQL without custom code.
