How Cottage designs homes with automation

Cottage, a San Francisco startup redesigning the process of planning, permitting, and building accessory dwelling units (ADUs), needed a way to connect many different tools without adding headcount. With a small team and lots of manual, repetitive work across design, sales, and operations, Cottage turned to Zapier and its webhooks product to help automate and unify its workflows.

Zapier enabled Cottage to sync HubSpot with Airtable, trigger Slack alerts, connect Autodesk Docs with other systems, and push customer design selections into Airtable and Google Drive for contractors. As a result, Cottage streamlined project management and sales processes, reduced manual setup work, and scaled from five employees in 2020 to 30 while supporting hundreds of homeowners with a more efficient, data-driven workflow.
