Reaching the hard to reach: A look inside Co-op’s market-leading wellbeing programme

Co-op, the UK’s largest consumer co-operative, needed a better way to consolidate a fragmented benefits offering, improve access to actionable wellbeing data, and manage rising insurance costs across a large, geographically dispersed workforce of 60,000 people in 4,000 locations. To address this, Co-op partnered with YuLife and used the YuLife Wellbeing Hub and app to create a single, digital wellbeing experience for colleagues.

YuLife supported Co-op with a pilot scheme, then a full rollout, including a Logistics Roadshow to reach shift workers and bespoke communications assets to drive engagement. The pilot achieved 1,028 downloads against a 1,000 target, and the roadshow delivered a 43% sign-up success rate and 2,766 downloads. Overall, 78% of respondents said they were still using the app, 91% found the Wellbeing Hub helpful, and 85% wanted it rolled out to all colleagues, with 984 trees planted through YuCoin and thousands of employees actively using the app.
