How WWF-Singapore used consumer insights to shape their PACT initiative with YouGov Surveys

WWF-Singapore needed to understand Singaporean consumer attitudes toward reducing single-use plastic, specifically regarding the implementation of bag charges. Their goal was to gather insights to support their PACT initiative and convince retailers that consumers were ready for this change. To tackle this challenge, they partnered with the vendor YouGov.

YouGov implemented a nationally representative Omnibus survey using their YouGov Surveys: Serviced product. The results provided actionable data, showing that 70% of respondents felt positive or neutral about bag charges and 71% were motivated to bring their own bag for a charge as low as S$0.50. These insights were used to advise retailers on effective price points and messaging, ultimately helping the PACT initiative demonstrate that over 60% of consumers brought their own bags where charges were implemented.
