A YouGov Case Study
The Bar Standards Board, a regulator for legal services in England and Wales, needed to understand how consumers make decisions and respond to price and service information when selecting a barrister. To explore the consumer journey and enhance previous findings on price transparency, they commissioned vendor YouGov to conduct research.
YouGov implemented a mixed-method research solution involving qualitative online focus groups to test mock webpage designs and a quantitative online behavioral experiment with a nationally representative sample of 1,500 participants. The results revealed key consumer preferences, such as prioritizing solicitor recommendations and experience over price, and identified the hourly fee model as the most transparent. YouGov's research provided the Bar Standards Board with reliable data to effectively regulate legal services in the public interest.
