MVMT, launched by Jake Kassan to offer stylish, high-quality watches at much lower prices by selling direct-to-consumer, faced a trust challenge: customers were used to trying watches in stores and wouldn’t change buying habits for price alone. To succeed, MVMT needed to recreate the product confidence and word-of-mouth of a retail experience online.
MVMT partnered with Yotpo to surface customer reviews and a Q&A feature that let shoppers get transparent answers from real buyers, replicating the crowd-driven validation from its crowdfunding days. The strategy generated strong social proof—over 30,000 five-star reviews and 1,350 answered questions—helping MVMT become a must-have Millennial brand with more than 1.5 million customers in 160+ countries.
