Umwelt Kontor, a fast‑growing renewables operator managing 30 wind parks and developing offshore sites, faced the challenge of protecting high‑value turbines and the safety of maintenance crews at remote locations where fire brigade access is difficult. Ensuring business continuity and meeting insurers’ requirements were critical as the company expanded.

Umwelt Kontor selected the VESDA VLC‑VN aspirating detectors (installed by Wellman through channel partner Novar) for a pilot at the Bergheim park, fitting two detectors per turbine and integrating them with the turbine control and local fire services so engines shut down on early smoke detection. The installation improved the park’s insurance position, secured assets and worker safety, proved simple for operational staff to use, and delivered greater management confidence.
