A Xtralis Case Study
Sembcorp Tay Paper Recycling’s 8,500 m2 paper sorting and baling plant in Tuas, Singapore faced a tough fire-protection challenge: high 15–20 m ceilings, constant paper dust that clogs point detectors, beam detectors that produced false alarms, and no sprinkler system due to lack of water-tank space. The company needed a reliable, low-maintenance detection solution that would work in a dusty environment and be serviceable at human height.
Working with ProVision Technology, Sembcorp installed a VESDA aspirating smoke detection system (three VESDA VLP units with a pipe network). The system delivers very-early, reliable smoke detection despite dust, is easier to maintain at human height, and proved trouble-free in operation—providing cost-effective protection and peace of mind for the plant.
