The National Trust - Customer Case Study

The National Trust’s A La Ronde is a unique, fragile 18th‑century, sixteen‑sided heritage property where only beam smoke detection is practical to protect delicate interiors. The site suffered persistent false alarms from traditional infrared beams in the central atrium because of medium dust contamination, spiders and insects, and bright sunlight streaming through the windows.

Installation partner Eurofyre replaced the old system with Xtralis OSID (OSI-45 Imager and OSE‑SP Emitters), a dual‑frequency IR/UV imaging beam detector that discriminates dust and small intruders and tolerates sunlight. The solution was simple to install (up to 70% faster commissioning), low‑maintenance, and eliminated all false alarms while providing stable, reliable protection.
