A Xtralis Case Study
Leading textile manufacturers across Mexico, Latin America and India faced a persistent fire risk from large volumes of cotton and synthetic fibers, dust and high-bulk storage in production and warehouse areas. Conventional point detectors produced frequent false alarms or failed from contamination, while heat detectors reacted too slowly; ignition sources included equipment failures, friction, electrical faults and static-charged fibers, creating a need for reliable, very-early warning detection in harsh environments.
The Industrial VESDA VLI aspirating smoke detector delivered that solution: patented long-life filters, IP54 rugged enclosure, extended sample-pipe capacity and improved dust/water ingress protection eliminated the need for external filters and reduced false alarms. Manufacturers deployed VLI across dozens of facilities (one using 40 units to protect 12 plants), enabling detection and suppression before fires escalated, coverage of high-ceiling areas with fewer devices, more consistent sensitivity over the detector life and a lower total cost of ownership.
