A Xtralis Case Study
Alliance Elastics, a family-owned textile manufacturer in Queensland with 37 years of operation, was told by its insurer to install an “approved” monitored fire detection system after a risk reassessment. Although the factory is under 2,000 m², its 7–8 m ceilings and combustible stock made smoke dilution a concern and meant the existing basic fire controls no longer satisfied insurance and Australian Standards requirements; the company also faced potentially significant installation and ongoing monitoring costs.
Alarmquip recommended and installed a VESDA very early warning smoke detection system, commissioned by a VESDA-accredited technician and tied into the existing security panel for central monitoring. The insurer accepted the compliant VESDA solution (avoiding a full fire-panel retrofit), and Alliance Elastics secured a substantial insurance premium discount while improving detection, reducing risk, and lowering ongoing costs.
