Case Study: South East Water secures remote water infrastructure and protects water quality with Xtralis ADPRO video surveillance

A Xtralis Case Study

Preview of the South East Water Case Study

Sophisticated ADPRO products protect Melbourne’s water and sewage pumping stations and water storage

South East Water, the largest water utility in Melbourne by area with about A$1 billion in assets and 1.3 million customers, faced security and safety challenges at remote pumping stations, storage tanks and reservoirs. Isolated locations made sites vulnerable to vandalism, environmental incidents, public safety and OH&S risks, and heightened concerns following major security events drove the need for more robust remote monitoring.

The utility standardized on ADPRO solutions—FastTrace for evidential video over the WAN, FastScan Mini to send images via GSM, VideoCentral for central management and FastVu for virtual-fence alerts—so operators can view and log remote activity and trigger responses. The system now reliably monitors 28 remote sites, deters and documents breaches, supports lone-worker safety and enables rapid dispatch or police response to protect water quality and infrastructure.
