A Xtralis Case Study
An international tyre manufacturer in Thailand operating large, highly automated warehouses faced a significant fire risk from flammable materials, electrical equipment and forklift operations. Their existing beam and point detectors produced frequent false alarms, were expensive and disruptive to maintain at height, and struggled with unpredictable smoke drift across wide open bays.
The company replaced protection in two warehouses with 30 VESDA LaserPlus aspirating detectors, giving very early, centrally sampled smoke detection (up to 2,000 m2 per detector), programmable sensitivity and staged alarm responses. The new system cut false alarms and maintenance downtime (allowing floor‑level servicing), interfaces with existing fire panels, and reduced the risk of stock loss, supply interruptions and unnecessary fire brigade intervention.
