China Netcom’s Maluwan Exchange Center in Shenyang — a critical four‑storey telecom hub serving more than 10 million customers in northeast China — needed to upgrade its fire protection. While VESDA early‑warning smoke detectors were already in place, the locally made Fire Alarm Control Panel could not be monitored remotely, forcing 24/7 onsite staffing and raising operating costs and risk of service interruption.

China Netcom installed Xtralis’s PROACTIV solution — PROACTIV FACP, PRECISION analogue addressable detectors, additional VESDA LaserPLUS units and PROACTIV System Manager software with remote PSTN monitoring — to create a fully integrated, centrally controlled system. The upgrade enabled remote monitoring and maintenance, reduced onsite staffing and service costs, improved response through staged alarm levels and automated actions (HVAC control, suppression and fire brigade notification), and provided a platform for future BMS integration and expansion.
