A Xtralis Case Study
The BBC, one of the world’s largest public broadcasters, needed to protect vehicles in its company car park but found that traditional infrared beam detectors produced frequent false alarms. Structural movement and wind-induced flexing caused repeated misalignments and costly engineer call-outs, making the existing solution unviable.
FPG replaced the beams with 16 Xtralis OSID imagers and emitters, a dual-frequency (IR/UV) open-area detection system that provides volumetric, multi-emitter coverage and simple commissioning. Installed in March 2012, the OSID system eliminated the false alarms, reduced maintenance and service costs, and now reliably detects intrusion despite building movement and challenging environmental conditions.
