WIRES - Customer Case Study

WIRES (Wildlife Information, Rescue and Education Service) is Australia’s largest wildlife rescue organisation, with about 2,500 volunteers and more than 77,000 rescue calls in a year — peaking at up to 400 requests a day in spring and summer. Until recently the team manually matched each call to volunteers using spreadsheets and phone calls, producing variable and sometimes lengthy response times for time-sensitive rescues.

WIRES implemented xMatters to automate outreach, instantly contacting qualified, local volunteers via a mobile app with rich messaging, push notifications and automatic escalations. The result: far faster, more consistent responses (many rescues are now solved in minutes), better species- and skill-based matching, increased volunteer engagement and a platform ready to integrate with WIRES’ future systems to scale rescue capacity.
