Dignity Health, a 20‑state health system with nearly 9,000 physicians, 56,000 employees and more than 400 care centers, needed a flexible, enterprise‑wide mass communication solution to support emergency, clinical and operational notifications as part of its business continuity planning. The challenge was to deliver timely, role‑based communications across local, regional and system levels while coordinating stakeholders from emergency management, HR, IT, clinical leadership and communications.

Dignity Health implemented xMatters in phased rollouts (Nov 2013–Aug 2014) with daily data syncs and broad leadership engagement; by August 2014, 5,153 employees had logged in, up to 150 message senders had used the system, 891 messages had been sent, 2,756 individuals had been notified and 4,719 devices were used for delivery. The deployment improved emergency and operational notification capabilities and is being extended to organizational and IT notifications, role‑based continuity plans and real‑time incident management.
