VMware needed to prove its “Actual Clouds” theme at VMworld by delivering a reliable VDI vCloud for the event’s main-stage demos and 30 hands-on labs, supporting more than 14,000 attendees and up to 480 simultaneous users across three data centers. VMware used Xangati to gain single-pane-of-glass visibility into the virtual and physical infrastructure and to ensure the environment could handle any lab at any time without performance issues.

Xangati’s Infrastructure Performance Management solution helped VMware measure bandwidth, host and VM utilization, vMotion performance, NFS latency, and PCoIP activity while validating the vCloud design before and during the event. As a result, the platform ran smoothly with no WAN or LAN issues, no user outages, and over 18,000 lab sessions completed, including more than 4,000 VMs deployed and destroyed per hour.
