eGate and JetBlue’s buy-on-board app takes off with Xamarin

JetBlue faced a challenge with its specialized buy-on-board devices, which were not available on every flight and frequently lost credit card transaction data during synchronization. To modernize this process, the airline partnered with vendor Xamarin and eGate Solutions.

The solution was a new iOS and Android app built with Xamarin for flight attendants to process purchases and track inventory. This allowed JetBlue to become the first airline to accept Apple Pay in flight, which reduced lost and fraudulent transactions through real-time processing. The app's sleek interface also improved service reliability in demanding environments like turbulence.

JetBlue
