BP faced the challenge of producing large, multidisciplinary, high-stakes licensing applications for Norwegian acreage under tight deadlines and with cumbersome collaboration in Word. Xait was hired to solve this problem and developed XaitPorter specifically to improve workflow, version control and team collaboration for BP’s licensing-round applications beginning in 2001.

Xait implemented XaitPorter to give real-time review and control, eliminate version-tracking and late-night compilation work, and enable high-resolution graphics and one-click final output. The solution delivered clear efficiency gains—BP funded further development—and XaitPorter became the industry standard in Norway: when the 24th Licensing Round awards were announced in May 2019, close to 100% of operator licenses went to XaitPorter clients.
