Case Study: Graphic Packaging International improves retention and hiring quality with WorkStep

A WorkStep Case Study

Preview of the Graphic Packaging International Case Study

Higher caliber of candidates leads to improved retention

Graphic Packaging International, a consumer packaging leader with 18,000+ team members across 70 locations, needed help filling hard-to-hire manufacturing roles such as Die Cutter Operator, Finishing Helper, Mechanics, and Electricians. The company was focused on finding candidates with prior machine operating experience and the ability to work rotating shifts, while improving the quality and reliability of hires. WorkStep helped address this staffing challenge.

Using WorkStep’s recruiting platform/service, Graphic Packaging International reviewed resumes, invited candidates to interview, and accelerated same-day interviews for high-interest applicants. The results were strong: 27 qualified matches per role per month, 94% 30-day retention on placements, and 5/5 worker satisfaction in the first year. Graphic Packaging International also reported hiring 20 people through WorkStep in 2019, with several advancing into higher-skilled roles, and noted that WorkStep improved both candidate quality and hiring speed.
