Smarter workflows help AirAsia to go places

AirAsia, a regional airline group of 22,000 employees operating across Asia and Australia, needed a way to connect dispersed teams, overcome language barriers, and replace slow email lists with faster, more agile workflows. To address this, AirAsia adopted Workplace from Meta (Workplace) to unify communication across pilots, operations staff and corporate teams.

Workplace from Meta deployed features such as Auto Translate, Groups and Workplace Chat to enable multilingual conversations, link apron crews to terminals and broadcast critical updates (for example via the AirAsia Foundation profile). The platform reached all 22,000 Allstars with 78% using Workplace on mobile weekly, improved real‑time problem solving and pilot responsiveness, and delivered measurable KPI gains like better on‑time performance — even prompting founder Tony Fernandes to shift off email in favor of Workplace Chat.
