A Workday Case Study
Tokopedia, a fast-growing Indonesian technology company headquartered in Jakarta with over 4,300 employees and a US$7 billion valuation, needed to replace a fragmented, manual HR and finance setup built on Excel and a legacy financial system. The manual processes caused multiple file versions, data-entry errors, slow month-end closes and heavy HR workload — and when evaluating replacements Tokopedia chose Workday both for its functionality and because the vendor’s values aligned with the company’s own focus on customers, growth and continuous improvement.
Workday’s unified HR and financial suite delivered mobile self-service, stronger internal controls, and easier collaboration between HR and Finance, while letting Tokopedia reconfigure processes quickly in-house. Employees now access the system about eight times a month, HR administrative queries that once numbered dozens per day have been reduced, financial close time shrank from two weeks to five days, audits passed with no issues, and the company gained greater agility to adapt to business change.
