A WoodWing Software Case Study

Preview of the Hearst Magazines Case Study

How to innovate consistently in publishing

Hearst Magazines, a unit of Hearst Corporation and publisher of 21 U.S. titles and nearly 300 international editions, faced a legacy publishing system that could not support modern multi-channel distribution. After a six-month evaluation, Hearst selected WoodWing Software’s multi-channel platform, WoodWing Enterprise, to replace the legacy system and address scalability (the implementation covered over 800 seats) and total cost-of-ownership concerns.

WoodWing Software implemented WoodWing Enterprise across all publications following three pilot projects, completing the migration in six months and integrating the system with Publisher Studio and Scriba. The deployment streamlined blended creation for print, tablet and mobile, accelerated editorial review and QA, reduced IT involvement and ownership costs, and enabled Hearst Magazines to enter the tablet/mobile arena quickly—delivering measurable production efficiencies across its large portfolio.
