Case Study: Neue Luzerner Zeitung achieves centralized, automated production of six editions with WoodWing Software

A WoodWing Software Case Study

Preview of the Luzerner Zeitung Case Study

How the Swiss newspaper Luzerner Zeitung efficiently creates its six editions

Luzerner Zeitung, the leading Swiss daily published in one main and five regional editions, was producing about 80 editorial pages daily for roughly 270,000 readers across print and digital channels. The paper faced an outdated newsroom system that could not cope with complex regional workflows, coordination between regional offices and advertising services, modern multi-platform publishing needs, and an optimized prepress process — prompting an evaluation of new editorial systems, including WoodWing Software’s WoodWing Studio.

WoodWing Software, implemented via partner a&f systems ag, provided WoodWing Studio as the central workflow cockpit tightly integrated with DIG planning, Desknet, fidion CMS and Claro Premedia; the phased rollout met deadlines. The solution now runs in three instances with 150 internal seats and about 50 external seats, delivering unprecedented automation and production reliability and enabling centrally managed, transparent planning and production across all editions.
