A WoodWing Software Case Study
DER SPIEGEL, the SPIEGEL Group’s news organization, faced the challenge of merging its formerly separate print and online editorial teams into one streamlined operation under the “Project Orange” initiative. To support around 800 employees and a “story first” workflow across digital and print channels, DER SPIEGEL worked with WoodWing Software and its partner a&f systems, using WoodWing Assets and WoodWing Studio as part of the broader production environment.
WoodWing Software implemented a tightly integrated workflow connecting DER SPIEGEL’s existing Polygon digital system with WoodWing Studio for print production, covering planning, content creation, job management, issue scheduling, page delivery, and printing. The rollout included pilot testing, extensive training for about 800 employees, and migration of publications to the new setup, resulting in a future-proof system, faster time-to-market through automation and optimization, and a solution ready for new client requirements.
