Case Study: El Comercio achieves unified multi-channel publishing efficiency with WoodWing Software

A WoodWing Software Case Study

Preview of the El Comercio Case Study

How Peruvian Publisher El Comercio implemented a unified newsroom.

El Comercio needed to move beyond siloed work and modernize its editorial production for a true multi-channel publishing process. The publisher wanted a unified newsroom to produce print, online, tablet, and mobile editions from one workflow, while also supporting many external contributors and integrating with its existing software ecosystem. To meet these needs, El Comercio selected WoodWing Software’s WoodWing Studio.

WoodWing Software implemented WoodWing Studio with Hexas, first for the newspapers and later for the magazines, with minimal disruption to production. The rollout averaged three months per title, training took about ten days, and the system was integrated with tools like Amendo, JournalDesigner, and Drupal. The results included a single workflow for all channels, usage by more than 400 editors and designers, and production of over 550 pages per day, with remote monitoring of time-critical content via VPN.
