How medical journal NTvG leverages structured content with WoodWing Studio

Nederlands Tijdschrift voor Geneeskunde (NTvG), the Dutch national medical journal, needed to move from a slow, print-first workflow to an online-first approach. Its articles arrived as Word files from external medical contributors, and the process of styling, tagging, and converting them for print and web involved multiple outside parties, high manual effort, and limited flexibility. NTvG used WoodWing Studio to modernize this content workflow.

WoodWing Software, through WoodWing Studio, helped NTvG automatically ingest Word documents and convert them into structured digital articles that could be published across channels and reused for print layouts. The implementation streamlined production, improved internal communication and planning, and gave NTvG full control over design and publishing. The result was a drastic reduction in production times, about 80–90% of print layout work automated, and long-term cost savings from eliminating most external production parties.
