Church's Chicken Outperforms with Improved Offshore F&A Processes

Church’s Chicken Franchise faced a major finance-and-accounting transition after being divested from its parent company, needing to decide whether to keep its existing outsourcing arrangement, bid the work out, or build an internal team. The company’s CFO, Dusty Profumo, sought a lower-cost model while managing the complexity of separating from AFC and maintaining finance operations for a large restaurant network. WNS was one of the vendors considered, alongside the incumbent provider and Accenture, with an offshore delivery model as a key requirement.

WNS won the contract and took over Church’s Chicken’s finance and accounting operations offshore in India, handling accounts payable and receivable, bank reconciliations, general ledger maintenance, and ERP support. WNS also helped manage the transition by sending a team to learn the business onsite and creating a document-scanning workflow for paper-heavy restaurant transactions. The result was a fully outsourced F&A function with a much smaller in-house team and significant cost savings—Profumo said the offshore model cost about half of the previous fee—while supporting growth plans toward 2,500 restaurants.
