St. Faith's 58% Reduction in Food Waste

St Faith’s School was looking to reduce its food waste and carbon footprint as part of a wider sustainability effort, while also using the initiative to educate students about environmental responsibility. To tackle this challenge, the school began using Winnow in 2017, following a recommendation from Chartwells Independent.

Winnow’s AI-powered food waste tracking system, including a scale, daily email reports, and the Winnow Hub analytics platform, gave the kitchen team detailed insight into what was being wasted and why. Using this data, St Faith’s cut food waste by 58%, saving 9,153 kg of food waste, 39,359 kg of CO²e, and £13,300 annually, while also preventing 22,883 meals from being wasted each year.
