How IKEA Eindhoven, in the Netherlands, saved over 48,000 meals

The customer, IKEA Eindhoven, aimed to cut its food waste by 50% as part of its "Food Is Precious" initiative. To help achieve this goal, they partnered with the vendor Winnow and implemented its smart scale system to accurately measure and understand the sources of food waste in their kitchen operations.

Using the Winnow system, the IKEA team was able to identify the most frequently wasted dishes and adjust production and ordering accordingly. As a result of this solution, they reduced their food waste by 45%, which saved over 48,000 plated meals and resulted in a financial saving of €100,000 and a CO2 reduction of 93 tonnes.
