Case Study: IKEA reduces food waste and saves costs with Winnow

A Winnow Case Study

Preview of the IKEA Case Study

How an IKEA store in the Hungary has saved more than 9,500 meals in less than 6 months

IKEA, the global home furnishings retailer, faced the challenge of reducing food waste across its restaurants, bistros, and food markets as part of its “Food is Precious” program. To do this, IKEA chose Winnow and its smart food waste measurement technology to better understand what was being wasted, why, and when.

Winnow helped IKEA’s Budapest store identify the most wasted dishes and adjust daily production to cook the right amount of food, while also improving supplier coordination. In less than six months, the store saved 9,580 meals, avoided 18 tonnes of CO2, and generated an estimated €55,367 in annual savings, showing the measurable impact of Winnow’s solution.
