Case Study: IKEA achieves over €100,000 in annual food waste savings with Winnow

A Winnow Case Study

Preview of the IKEA Case Study

How an IKEA store in Netherlands is saving over €100,000 annually by reducing food waste

IKEA, the global home furnishings retailer, wanted to reduce food waste across its food operations as part of its “Food is Precious” program. In its Amersfoort store in the Netherlands, IKEA worked with Winnow and the Winnow smart scale system to better understand what was being wasted and by how much, with the goal of cutting waste and saving money.

Winnow helped IKEA measure and analyze waste daily, identify the most wasted dishes, adjust production volumes, improve ordering, and reduce the amount of food displayed in cold counters. As a result, IKEA reduced food waste by more than 40%, prevented 15,862 meals from being wasted, and is estimated to save about €101,000 per year.
