Guckenheimer becomes first major U.S. food services provider to cut food waste in half

Guckenheimer, a major U.S. food services provider with kitchens across North America, set an ambitious goal in 2021 to cut food waste by 50% by 2024. To achieve this, the company partnered with Winnow and deployed Winnow’s AI-powered Vision system in hundreds of kitchens to better measure and manage waste.

With Winnow, Guckenheimer gained real-time waste tracking and reporting that helped chefs adjust preparation and plating practices. The result was a 64% reduction in food waste, 1,500 metric tons of CO2e avoided annually, $1 million in annual food cost savings, and 983,000 meals saved each year, making Guckenheimer the first major U.S. food services provider to hit this milestone.
