ESS has prevented more than 46 tonnes of food from getting wasted

ESS Support Services, a market leader in catering, retail, leisure, and support services for Defence & Government sites, needed to cut food waste, improve sustainability, and deliver financial savings across its operations. Winnow supported the challenge by introducing its food waste measurement system to help ESS understand what was being thrown away and where reductions could be made.

Winnow implemented the system across three UK sites, giving chefs data to adjust portions, training, and purchasing decisions. The results were significant: food waste by value fell by 70%, more than 46 tonnes of food were prevented from being wasted, and around 200 tonnes of CO2 emissions were avoided, demonstrating a clear cost and sustainability impact for ESS Support Services.
